Links

There are plenty of other great sites out there about Classical history and legends, here are some of the ones I've found.

Encyclopedia Mythica
Described as an encyclopedia of mythology, folklore and legend it contains sections on lots of different mythologies. The main encyclopedia is searchable in its entirity or in the diffent mythologies. In the Greek section it has geneology tables a gallary of 100 images and the encylopedia contains entries of about the same size as this site.

Bulfinch's Mythology
An online version of Thomas Bulfinch's The Age of Fable Or Stories of Gods and Heroes. Although a hundred and fifty years old this book is responsible for much of the popularisation of classical mythology. The site includes a search engine and many illustrations.

The Dictionary of Phrase and Fable
An online version of the dictionary/encyclopaedia by E. Cobham Brewer (1894). Containing entries from a range of sources, including Greek mythology. The entries are brief and not cross linked, but there is a search engine and thousands of entries.

Perseus Project
A digital resource for sources on the ancient world. It contains an encyclopedia where each entry links to the sources of information for that person, place or thing. There's also an atlas and lots of images, the huge amount of information is beautifully and functionally presented.

Greek Timeline
Easier to use for quick reference than the online textbooks, but only for a very brief overview. There are also some maps on the site.

Homer's Iliad and Odyssey
A large site concentrating on Homer's epics. The Virtual books give a good overview of the works with pictures and sounds incorporated. There's also pages on comparative myths, lists of characters and a slide show on Homer's history.

The Agamemnon Hom page
Some information on the Gods and on modern Greek issues, but the really nifty thing is the set of family trees.

Caecilius.com Not exactly Greek but good fun for anyone who's doing or has done the Cambridge Latin Course, lots of games and stuff about teaching latin.

About me - for anyone that's interested.
I'm 23 years old, born and bred in London. I'm currently studying for an MSc in History of Science at Imperial College and University College in London. Over a long summer holiday decided to reacquaint myself with the myths that I learnt to love as a child, and the epics I learnt to hate as an A-Level Classical Civilisations student.
