I watch a LOT of television, or to be more accurate, I watch an awful lot of television series but I watch them mostly on dvd so I don't catch any of those pesky advert things. Generally I watch the American stuff although I've recently picked up a few more UK series which seem to be adopting the similar production values. I'll watch pretty much anything that doesn't involve members of the public or celebrities, although I tend not to watch sitcoms either at the moment.

Will and Grace

This is another show like Frasier that can be brilliant and have me laughing in the aisles, but can also have me cringing and hiding behind cushions begging them not to do something excrutiatingly stupid. The supporting characters of Jack and Karen are also alternately hilarious and infuritating. However the hilarious far overwhelms the painful making the series worrying addictive

Will and Grace: Season 5

I find all of the 4 main characters cringingly painful a lot of the time and have a hatred for stunt casting celebrities - yet still find this series hilarious and addictive. Season 5 actually moves some of the characters forward a bit as Grace gets married (to probably the least annoying character in the whole season) and Will deals with losing her - a perfect opportunity for them to be whiny and dense. Karen almost behaves like a normal person at times, but Jack manages to bumble along just as ever. The wit and sappiness manage to overcome the cringey bits and make it quite hard to actually stop watching.

Special Features: Buying the whole season in one box set is definately a better idea than buying 6 seperate dvds as I have in previous years and the box is very nicely packaged. The highlight of the specials is the ~5minute blooper reel which is hilarious. There's a long Living TV interview with Eric McCormack which is cheesily fun (including a surprisingly good karaoke Don't Go Breaking My Heart). There's another behind the scenes feature which is fun if sappy and the usual collection of montages. An impressive set given that I picked it up for under 20quid.

Will and Grace: Season 6

The weakest season of Will and Grace yet, mostly due to the lengthy absence of Grace due to the actress' pregnancy. Without Grace being ditzy and pathetic and making Will competant he just comes across as horribly insecure, sappy and geeky and it's painful to watch. Jack and Karen were much funnier in supporting roles as they are too large for main characters. My favourite thing about the entire season was actually Harry Connick Jr. as Leo who managed to play a believable character who was also hilarious. The rest of the stunt casting just annoyed and frustrated me, most of the guests were just not funny.

Special Features: Just for a change there's actually a special feature! An hour long interview with the series creators at the Edinburgh Television Festival which covered their backgrounds, working relationship, pitch process and the development of the series. The pair were very easy to listen to and injected a lot of humour into what could easily have become a very dry session.
