The Telegraph's Top 50 songs to make you dance
This list is hideous. JUST HIDEOUS!
At number 50 is Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher. I realise that number 50 on a list is pretty far down the pecking order, but seriously, does that song really make anyone at all get up and dance? Maybe one could blame it on the fact it's a telegraph article, maybe they're actually talking about songs that make old people dance. But there's also such highlights as Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand at 42 (really? I like it and all, but I doubt it would make me drag my arse onto a dance floor I hadn't previously been inclined to visit).
Of the two songs I immediately thought of that are pretty much guaranteed to get me dancing regardless of how much I have or haven't dancing, Love Shack by the B-52s appears at 21 and Raining Men by the Weathergirls doesn't even rank. Other notable omissions - cheesy classics like Come On Eileen, Hi Ho Silver lining, reminders of happy days at the Union such as Pulp Common People, James Sit Down, Girl From Mars, and modern cheese like Scissor Sisters, Robbie Williams, Steps. Or songs with proper dances - The Twist, the Macarena? There's not even YMCA?!
Oh and at number one - Crazy in Love, Beyonce with Jay Z. I honestly have no idea what it sounds like, but I suspect it would have me heading for the bar, or the door.
