Thanks to the power of a dvd rental subscription I can now watch a couple of movies each week without bancrupting myself. It also means that I can finally tick off a lot of the older classic films that everyone says I should watch but I don't necessarily want to watch. Sometimes I'm happily surprised, other times I just don't understand what everyone is on about.
I've seen 43 films so far this year.
In 2007 I saw 100 films (overview), in 2006 I saw 85 films (overview), in 2005 55, (overview), 50 in 2004 (overview) and 100 in 2003.

A wonderfully simple movie, almost exclusively on one set, no effects, hardly any action, just 12 men talking. And it's utterly riveting. I don't know how many times this plot has been redone, but I've never seen it done as well as the original manages.(275)

I enjoyed 80% of this film, sadly the bit I didn't like was the final 20% which just left a bad taste in the mouth about the whole film. On the plus side the characters were real feeling, the maths well handled and explained and the direction was fun and lively. The problem came when in order to get an exciting end to the story they had to make a couple of characters wildly change direction and storm off in a huff. It just seemed silly and forced and spoilt an otherwise fun film.(397)
